A. Financial Data via Plaid

To display your financial information, our Service integrates with Plaid Inc. ("Plaid").

  • Account Information: When you connect your bank accounts, Plaid retrieves account details such as account names, types, balances, transactions, and holdings.

  • Authentication Credentials: PigMint LLC does not collect, view, or store your bank login credentials (usernames, passwords, or PINs). All authentication is handled directly and securely by Plaid and your financial institution.

B. Device & Physical Display Data

Because our Service involves rendering data onto a physical screen:

  • Hardware Identifiers: We may collect unique device IDs, MAC addresses, IP addresses, and screen telemetry (e.g., display connectivity status, error logs) to ensure data routes correctly to your physical screen.

  • Display Configuration Settings: Preferences you configure (e.g., specific accounts or metrics to display, screen refresh rates, or privacy modes).

Physical Screen Privacy & Security Considerations

Important Notice Regarding Physical Visibility: The core functionality of our Service is displaying financial metrics on a physical screen in your environment.

  • Physical Access Control: You are solely responsible for where you place your physical screen and who has visual or physical access to it (e.g., family members, housemates, or guests).

  • Display Privacy Controls: PigMint LLC provides settings within the app to hide sensitive values by changing the balance to percentages or turn off the screen. We strongly encourage you to configure these settings according to your physical environment.

How We Disclose Personal Information

In certain circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy. Such circumstances may include:

  • With Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping).
  • With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and advertise to you. For example, we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites. Our business and marketing partners will use your information in accordance with their own privacy notices.   • Third-Party Service Providers: We share data with trusted infrastructure partners (such as Plaid for banking connectivity and secure cloud hosting providers like AWS/Firebase) strictly as necessary to run the Service.

  • Legal Requirements: PigMint LLC may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental subpoena.

Relationship with Shopify

The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Services for you. Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify as well as third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside, in order to provide and improve the Services for you. In addition, to help protect, grow, and improve our business, we use certain Shopify enhanced features that incorporate data and information obtained from your interactions with our Store, along with other merchants and with Shopify. To provide these enhanced features, Shopify may make use of personal information collected about your interactions with our store, along with other merchants, and with Shopify. Children's Data

The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, you may contact us using the contact details set out below to request that it be deleted.As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" (as those terms are defined in applicable law) personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Children's Privacy Policy

PigMint LLC ("PigMint," "we," "us," or "our") is dedicated to protecting the privacy of children and empowering families to raise financially smart kids. This Children’s Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when parents, guardians, and children under the age of 13 interact with our mobile application and connected physical display device (collectively, the "Service").

This policy is designed to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

A.  Verifiable Parental Consent

Under COPPA, services directed to children under 13 must obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from children.

  • Parent-Managed Setup: The PigMint account must be created, managed, and linked to financial institutions by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Consent Process: Before linking any financial accounts via Plaid or transmitting financial data to the PigMint physical screen, parents must verify their identity and explicitly consent to the collection and display of account data.

  • Right to Revoke: Parents may revoke consent at any time, disconnect linked bank/investment accounts, or request the deletion of their family’s data.

B. Information We Collect

We limit our data collection to only what is necessary to operate the Service and display financial learning tools on the physical device.

C. Information Provided by Parents

Parent Contact Details: Name, email address, and account credentials used to manage the app.

Child Profile Information: An optional nickname or display name assigned to the child's screen profile (we recommend using first names or pseudonyms only).

D. Financial Data Collected via Plaid

To display account balances and investment asset values on the physical display, PigMint uses Plaid, Inc. ("Plaid") as a secure third-party provider to connect to financial institutions.

  • Account Summaries: Account names, balances, investment asset holdings, and high-level transaction summaries.

  • Read-Only Access: PigMint receives read-only access through Plaid. We never store bank login credentials, passwords, PINs, or full account/routing numbers on our servers or on the physical display screen.

E. Technical & Device Information

Physical Screen Identifiers: Device ID, MAC address, connection status, and firmware version of the PigMint physical screen.

App Telemetry: Basic interaction logs necessary for troubleshooting, system stability, and security updates.

F. How We Use the Information

We use the collected information solely to deliver the core functionality of the Service:

  • Processing and transmitting read-only financial data from Plaid to the designated physical display screen.

  • Providing parents with account management tools within the PigMint mobile application.

  • Maintaining hardware security, authenticating authorized devices, and providing technical support.

  • Our Data Guarantee: PigMint LLC does not serve targeted advertisements, build behavioral profiles of children, or sell, rent, or monetize personal or financial data.

G. How We Share & Disclose Information

We do not share or sell children's personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared strictly under the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted service providers who perform critical backend functions on our behalf (e.g., Plaid for bank connectivity, cloud hosting, and device authentication providers). These providers are contractually obligated to maintain strict data confidentiality and security.

  • Legal & Safety Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, regulatory authority, or to protect the safety, rights, and security of PigMint LLC, our users, or the public.

  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of company assets, family data would remain subject to the commitments made in this Children’s Privacy Policy unless modified with parental notice.

H. Security Measures & Storage

We employ administrative, physical, and technical safeguards designed to protect sensitive financial and personal data:

  • End-to-End Encryption: Financial data retrieved via Plaid and transmitted to the PigMint physical screen is encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (TLS/SSL).

  • On-Screen Security: Data displayed on the physical screen is meant for local family viewing. The screen acts as a display endpoint and does not store unencrypted raw financial credentials locally.

  • Access Control: Account modifications and Plaid re-authentications require parental account access via the mobile application.

I. Parental Rights & Data Controls

Parents and guardians maintain full control over their family’s data at all times. You have the right to:

  • Review: Inspect the personal information collected about your child or linked accounts.

  • Delete: Request the permanent deletion of your account, child profile data, and Plaid connections from our servers.

  • Disconnect: Unlink any bank or investment account via the PigMint mobile app at any time, immediately halting data refresh to the physical screen.

  • Refuse Further Collection: Withdraw consent to stop any further collection or use of information.

Security and Retention of Your Information

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

How long we retain your personal information depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, to provide you with Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts and policies.

Security and Retention of Your Information

  • In-Transit Encryption: All communication between Plaid, PigMint LLC servers, and your physical display device is encrypted using standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL).

  • Data Storage: Financial data retrieved from Plaid is [Select one: cached temporarily in server memory only to refresh the display / encrypted and stored in our secure database to provide historical charts on your screen].

  • On-Device Storage: The physical screen hardware stores only minimal configuration settings and display parameters; it does not permanently store raw banking credentials or long-term financial records.

Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights listed below in relation to your personal information. However, these rights are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances and, in certain cases, we may decline your request as permitted by law.

  • Right to Access / Know. You may have a right to request access to personal information that we hold about you.
  • Right to Delete. You may have a right to request that we delete personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Correct. You may have a right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as those about your account or orders that you have made.

You retain full control over your financial data:

  • Disconnecting Financial Accounts: You can unlink your financial accounts at any time through your PigMint LLC account settings. Unlinking revokes Plaid's authorization to retrieve new data for that account.

  • Account Deletion: You may request complete account deletion by contacting us at hello@getpigmint.com or selecting "Delete Account" in the application settings. Upon deletion, all Plaid connection tokens and server records tied to your physical device will be permanently removed.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We may need to verify your identity before we can process your requests, as permitted or required under applicable law.
